Sights

Buenos Aires is the “Paris of South America” with Plaza de Mayo, San Telmo, La Boca and legendary tango shows. Mendoza is the heart of the wine region with world-class Malbec.

Bariloche offers alpine landscapes and chocolate. Ushuaia is the “end of the world” and gateway to Antarctica. Iguazú Falls from the Argentine side. Salta in the north shows colonial heritage.

Restaurants: 10-15% is customary. Taxis: 10% or round up. Hotels: 20-50 Pesos per day. Tango shows: 10%. Tour guides: $10-15 USD per day. Hairdresser: 10-15%.

Particularities: Right-hand traffic. Roundabouts have right of way. Tolls on many routes. Alcohol limit: 0.5 blood alcohol level. Seatbelts are mandatory.

Argentina uses the Peso (ARS). Inflation is high – US dollars are often preferred. Blue Dollar (black market) offers better exchange rates. Card payment is possible, but cash is often cheaper.
