Restaurants: 10% is often already included (“servicio incluido”), additional 5% for good service. Tour guides: $5-10 USD per day. Housekeeping: $1-2 USD per day. Taxis: Rounding up is sufficient.

Caution: Road conditions can be poor, especially during the rainy season. 4WD is often necessary. Alcohol limit: 0.5 per mille.
Currency & Payment
Costa Rica uses the Costa Rican Colón (CRC). US Dollars are accepted everywhere and often preferred. Card payment is widespread in tourist areas. Cash is necessary for small amounts and local shops.
